When We Miss the Moment, We Miss the Point

Here’s something I’ve been asking myself since I heard it on a call with a bunch of amazing business people last week: How much can this moment deliver to me?

As it always goes, this message arrived at a time when each moment was little more than a colourful furry blur as it whizzed by, unnoticed and unappreciated while I flew onto the next tick box on my already overflowing to-do list (I know better than this, right?)

Here’s what I learned:

👉🏼 I am not great at this, and I forgot loads of times.

👉🏼 I frustrate myself when I’m not ‘getting it right’ and am a bit of a d*ck to my brain. She does not take kindly to this and on we go…

👉🏼 When I remember to slow the F down and ask myself the above question, the day-to-day busyness subsides, I move into a state of appreciation really quickly, and I stop being so hard on myself.

👉🏼 I’m all about a Win/Win

I realise that as entrepreneurs and business owners, it’s all too easy to move fast; after all, the buck stops here, right? But honestly, we’re missing the entire point.

The success we crave is carved out in each moment we take decisive, positive action, and by not enjoying it now, we literally starve ourselves of happiness in favour of the ever-elusive ‘when’

I’ll celebrate when I reach 10,000 followers, 5k months, or 1000 views →insert other reason to delay happiness here

Sound familiar?

We punish ourselves for not having success now, but it’s right there. It’s in every completed task, every new connection made, every pause, every £/$ earned and every laughter snort (totally my favourite).

The current thinking is backward. You get to choose something to appreciate, love, and enjoy right now.

What will yours be?

Make the choice. Go wild, throw appreciation around like colourful confetti (with glitter, obviously ✨), and watch the universe yield to your deepest desires.

I believe in you (always).
